As Long As You’re With Me

UPDATE (November 20th): I’ve been playing around with some home recording software.  Check out this site where I’ve posted an MP3 version of this song:  http://tinysong.com/NTTe

Hey all, remember me?  Sorry I haven’t been posting much lately.

I haven’t shared a song in a while.  Today is my 19th anniversary married to my amazing wife.  We’ve been together for about 25 years. Some of you may have read this poem that I wrote awhile back.  I’ve had a tune running through my head for months and one day it just came to me that this little poem might just fit perfectly into the tune. So I reworked the words a little bit to fit and came up with this song.  So HAPPY 19th Anniversary to my incredible wife.  Here’s to many more years… as long as you’re with me!

  1. Steve, that was brilliant and so brave of you to do the singing ” live ” on your blog.
I’m sure your wife was crying when you sang / played that to her.
    Also is it on utube.

Happy Anniversary!! Too sweet – did you make her cry?

  3. Aw Cowboy!

That was the sweetest love song. How ’bout you remind my husband that he used to write me love songs? Congratulations on your nineteen years of love. That is one lucky woman. 😉

By the way, that should be available for purchase on iTunes. I would totally buy it and cry in my car.

    • Thanks Renee, you know what I am learning, sometimes people just need to step away from life for a little bit to rediscover what is important. I’m sure your husband still has lots of songs inside him, they just need to find their way out. I’ll let you know when this is available on itunes!

“I would totally buy it and cry in my car”… Amen woman! Me too.

To all of you that don’t know me, I am a crier by nature! Hallmark ads, Disney movies, hell — even action movies can make me cry!
So yes, I did cry! The one difference here is that the crying was coupled with my heart swelling with joy <3!
How lucky I am to have married such a wonderful, caring and talented person. Happy 19th to you too, my love, and to many, many more years of joy and laughter! Love, Me

  5. Happy Anniversary!

That weren’t bad at all, son.

I was told, “Shush, people are trying to sing” as a kid in my musical family but they wouldn’t have said so with you. Good on yer.

  6. Steve, you are super talented. Well done!
Happy anniversary. Wishing you two a lifetime of love and happiness…and great music.

  7. So very cool…your wife has one, good guy.

  8. The sound of the guitar strings is so pristine and clear when you play. A very gentle, caring song of appreciation. Appreciating your partner seems to be the attribute sorely lacking in difficult and failing marriages. See? Now we’ve solved that problem, no one will ever have it again!

    Happy 25 years of togetherness!

Every woman’s dream. My husband used to play me to sleep with his guitar when I was sick or in need of special attention. We’ve been married 29 years and loving that the kids are now “out on their own”! Didn’t think having an “empty” house would feel so full! Congratulations and best wishes to you both!

    • One of those songs that I just couldn’t find the words for, who knew it was sitting right in front of me on my blog. Can’t imagine my kids being gone right now, but I certainly understand where you’re coming from.

  10. Wow, you are so talented! What a beautiful song. Happy 19th to you and your wife!

  11. Happy Anniversary. Thank you for sharing your song. I wish you both many more years of love songs.

  12. Happy Anniversary. I think after your signing clip ( which IS brave) you should have included another clip of Simon Cowell dashing the hopes of young singers.

Hope you and your wife have many more happy years ahead of you.

  13. I loved reading this for the same reason I go to weddings and cry. Nothing’s better than love that lasts because the people in love have done what it took to make it last. Best wishes, and many happy years to you both.

mysterycoach reblogged this on Mysterycoach's Blog and commented: I’ve been looking for proof of solid relationships… Enjoy this fella and it’s a beautiful song he wrote himself. 🙂 It’s best if you listen with your eyes closed… you’ll see

  15. Aw, congrats on your anniversary! May there be many more!

  16. Happy 19th Anniversary to you and your wife 🙂

  17. Very cool!
I never knew you were a singer/song writer. I’ve subscribed to your youtube page.
It’s great music to go along with the song.
    Happy Anniversary!

  18. Brilliant – 25 years together!

  19. Your wife’s pretty lucky to have somebody still writing songs for her after 25 years. My wife has gotten zero songs out of me in the 14 years we’ve known each other.

  21. Awesome. You are really a wonderful singer. Loved it.

  22. Aww….that was awesome! Happy Anniversary to both of you 🙂 You seriously give me hope that there are some good guys left out there and true love does exist…thank you for that. xo

  23. This is so beautiful! I ‘ve always wanted to live in a lighthouse but of course, not without my husband. I will definitely share this with him. Thanks for sharing.
